The Kaltes Wasser benthos report

Small brook on the south Taunus. It runs through a thick forest of fir and deciduous trees.

The water is very clear, with a reddish-amber tone typical in the peat-waters. I found presence of Plecoptera and Trichoptera.

What a difference: this sample was taken some hundreds meters downstream than the one above. The water is very clear, however very poor signs of life. Only a lot of Simulidae were found.
